Amazing work of Maritime art! This Woolwork or "Woolie" is a hand crafted display of an old Steamship surrounded by Maritime flags. It's pretty old, but remarkable! The detailed work looks to be on duck linen, which was commonly used for woolworks as these. British sailors were the primary makers of woolies. They (19th-century mariners)embroidered ship portraits between trips to sea. This Woolie has been framed under glass for quite some time, as moth activity is present in the woolwork. The backing of frame might need to be replaced, but it's alright for display as it sits. Frame is approx 29"H x 31"W Frame shows some aging, still good. This is an item that one hardly ever sees, let alone come available for auction! Awesome Woolwork! ~Az
