#20 • Chinese Rice Measuring Bucket

Part of Pink Auction - Nice Blend of Old and New (timed auction by K and B Auction)

High bid $43.00

Status: Sold

This example is one of the largest we have had. This boxy bucket is made from wood and originally covered in oxblood lacquer for protection. Hand-forged iron braces provide additional strength to corners and reinforce handles. Originally these buckets were filled with rice or wheat and leveled with a stick. Because of their extreme sturdiness, they are ideal for fireplace kindling. This rice bucket is likely from Northern China, Shanxi Province and shows excellent original patina. 20.75"T x 19"W x 19.5"D and in good condition. BP
