#15 • 'Preacher Man' by Marie & Brenda Rogers

Part of Clayton Winter Pottery Auction (timed auction by K and B Auction)

High bid $115.00

Status: Sold

9.5"T Fantastic piece with multi-color browns and greenish-gray glazes. Marie is considered the only female Jugtown style potter and is well known for her detailed designs. Preacher Man is no exception! Nicely sculpted face with white teeth and eyes (which have blue dots). Head full of etched hair covered by a full brimmed hat that says 'Jesus Saves'. On the front of his body above the 'Preacher Man' his collar has been added to his neck. The back is signed 'Marie Rogers & Brenda Rogers' along with the MROGERS stamp. Hand etched on the bottom: 'Meansville GA'. We don't see Marie's pottery come in very often so don't miss this opportunity! Excellent condition. f
