Mende Radio- Model VE301W- made in Germany around 1933. Untested due to frayed wiring. Tabletop version- standing 15.5" tall. It is THE original Volksempfanger- “people’s receiver”- a range of low-cost radio receivers produced in Nazi Germany, developed by engineer Otto Griessing at the request of Joseph Goebbels, the Reich Minister of Propaganda. Its purpose was to make radio reception technology affordable to the general public. Goebbels realized the great propaganda potential of this relatively new medium and thus considered widespread availability of receivers highly important. Unique find with interesting stories. BP
