AYA (Aguirre y Aranzabal) side-by-side shotgun was manufactured in Spain between 1966 and 1971. The serial number falls right in the middle of their chronological production block for those years. Breaking Down Your Markings: Serial Number (343987): Indicates production during the peak manufacturing period (between 222,509 and 378,548), putting this between 1966 and 1971. .12-70: This is the chamber size. It means your shotgun is a 12 gauge and has a 70mm (2-3/4") chamber. 1300 grm: This is the minimum weight of the barrels in grams during the Spanish proofing process. It does not refer to the weight of the ammunition or total shotgun weight. What You Can Shoot: Because your shotgun is stamped 12-70, you should exclusively shoot 12 gauge, 2-3/4" or shorter shotshells. You should never use 3" (12-76) shells in this gun. Furthermore, it is highly recommended to stick to standard velocity, light-to-moderate target loads or standard game loads rather than heavy high-velocity or magnum shells. 12 Gauge, 2¾" chamber. 28" barrels. Break action breech loading side by side. The metal surfaces show patina, finish wear, spotting, and age related handling marks throughout. The boxlock action features border engraving, and the barrel show visible proof and maker markings. The hardwood stock and forearm show light scratches, scuffs, finish wear and general handling marks consistent with age and use. Comes in a gun sock. Guns have not been inspected by a gunsmith and should be inspected before use. Working conditions are not guaranteed. Guns have not been test fired. jrb.
