The barrel and receiver bluing looks great and so does the stock. Comes with a mounted Tasco 3x-9x, 40 Scope. The scope is bright and clear. About the rifle: The Remington Model 550-1 is a legendary rimfire rifle, famous for its ability to shoot .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle cartridges interchangeably from the same tubular magazine. The Secret to Interchanging Ammo. Most semi-automatic .22 rifles jam if you mix ammo because low-powered Short rounds do not create enough recoil to cycle the heavy bolt meant for Long Rifle rounds. Remington solved this by utilizing the "floating chamber" system invented by David "Carbine" Williams. How it works: When firing a .22 Short, the tiny gas expansion pushes against a small, separate chamber sleeve inside the barrel. The result: This sleeve multiplies the recoil force against the bolt face by roughly 40%, generating just enough energy to reliably cycle the action even with low-powered gallery rounds. REMINGTON MODEL 550-1 is a classic semi-automatic rimfire rifle built for shooters who want simple operation, vintage sporting appeal, and flexible .22 rimfire use. It uses a blowback-operated action, so it delivers the easy handling and fast follow-up shots many shooters still enjoy in an older .22 rifle. Because it is chambered for .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle, it also offers added versatility for recreational shooting and general rimfire use. The REMINGTON MODEL 550-1 keeps the design straightforward and practical. Its wood-stock sporting layout gives it the classic look many collectors and rimfire enthusiasts still want. In addition, the semi-automatic action adds convenience for plinking and casual range sessions, while the vintage Remington design brings strong appeal for buyers who appreciate older American rimfire rifles. As a result, this pre-owned example stands out for shooters who want a usable vintage .22 with broad rimfire compatibility and recognizable Remington heritage.
