The Henry H012M Big Boy Steel Lever Action Rifle chambered in .357 Magnum / .38 Special is a highly regarded, American-made firearm designed for hunting, home defense, and recreational shooting. Moving away from the heavy, traditional brass receivers, the H012M relies on a blued steel frame that sheds significant weight while preserving legendary reliability. Key Specifications & Features The rifle offers a blend of modern convenience and classic aesthetic choices: Capacity: Holds 10+1 rounds of .357 Magnum cartridges (and can often squeeze in an extra round when running shorter .38 Special ammunition). Barrel Layout: Equipped with a 20-inch round blued steel barrel featuring a 1:16 rate of twist, providing excellent stability and squeezing maximum velocity out of straight-walled pistol cartridges. Stock & Aesthetics: Features a straight-wrist stock and fore-end crafted from genuine American Walnut, complete with crisp checkering for a secure grip. Sights & Optics: Ships with a highly visible brass bead front sight and a fully adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight. The receiver is also drilled and tapped for easy scope or red dot integration using a standard BB-RSM mount. Weight & Handling: Weighs in at 7.0 lbs, making it noticeably lighter and easier to carry in the field than Henry's octagonal-barreled brass variants. Safety System: Utilizes an internal transfer bar safety mechanism, ensuring the rifle will not discharge unless the trigger is deliberately pulled. The Versatility of .357 / .38 Special The major draw of this platform is its caliber versatility. When loaded with heavy .357 Magnum cartridges, the 20-inch barrel yields impressive muzzle velocity, making it an incredibly effective tool for medium-game hunting (such as whitetail deer or hogs) at short-to-medium ranges. Alternatively, you can load it with .38 Special ammunition. Because the rifle weighs 7 pounds, shooting .38 Special results in virtually non-existent recoil—making it cheap, highly accurate, and incredibly fun for introductory shooters or high-volume plinking. Serial number BBS010322M. 20" barrel and 38" overall. In very good condition with a few spots of wear on the stock. Has a rail mounted on the receiver for an optic. Guns have not been inspected by a gunsmith and should be inspected before use. Working conditions are not guaranteed. Guns have not been test fired. jrb.
