#118 • Grasso Signed Terracotta Franciscan Monks - Italy

Part of Green Gallery - Meaders Pottery, Great Estate Items, Fly Fishing Gear & More!! (timed auction by K and B Auction)

High bid $1.00

Status: Available

Signed on front bottom with a shortened first name that looks like it might be for Giovanni Grasso. The bottom is also marked and has a partial paper label remaining. Italian terracotta figure depicting two Franciscan monks playing cards. One seems to be saying something to the other. They must have squabbled as one is missing his middle card while the other is missing his pointer finger and part of his thumb. Ya know what they say about pointing, LoL. Terra cotta clay is well carved, by hand, even shows the folds in their robes. Approx 5"H x 6"L - in good shape. Must have quite a conversation they were having. ~Az
